Plot Summary:
Acting
[ 7 / 10 ] The acting was alright, in my opinion. It wasn't that that I was looking for. I greatly enjoyed the script -- it was deep and moving. Every line has a hidden message in it providing us with a life -- and afterlife -- lesson.
Art
[ 9 / 10 ] The artwork was very aesthetic. It was much prettier and ran much smoother than the television series did. Though, most movies are meant to do this, right? I've seen one of the Bleach movies and the artwork was nothing different than the anime. I wasn't impressed with it. Though, I don't particularly like the artstyle of Utena, it was beautiful to look at.
Story
[ 10 / 10 ] The story was phenomenal. Those who watch this movie that don't understand symbolism and Gnosticism will only go "OMFG Lesbians!" The story was deep and every line, as I've said before, has a hidden message on how to reach Gnosis.
Overall
[ 10 / 10 ]This was an awesome movie. I greatly enjoyed it because I understood what everything in it meant. It's more than just a story about a tom-boy dueling for the hand of the Rose Bride. It reveals Utena and Anthy's journey toward Gnosis.
This movie was much like End of Evangelion except on a much deeper level. Those who understand and have an interest in religion and psychology will greatly appreciate this movie.
